Compatibility
TAP coexists with Schema.org, C2PA, IPTC DST, Dublin Core, SPDX, and W3C PROV-O. The Web profile's JSON-LD IS Schema.org. TAP adds the model/human/role/confidence layer these standards lack. C2PA proves file integrity; TAP declares who did what.
EU AI Act (Article 50, applicable from August 2,
2026) mandates disclosure of AI-generated content but does not
prescribe a metadata format. TAP provides a voluntary, machine-readable
format that satisfies the Act's disclosure requirements. TAP's Display
profile values (human, ai-involved,
ai-generated, ai-modified) map directly to the
categories the regulation distinguishes. TAP alone does not constitute
legal compliance - implementors must verify jurisdiction-specific
obligations.
TAP is voluntary self-declaration, not cryptographic proof. It requires no keys, no hardware, no registry. A valid TAP declaration is a line of text.
